about Bernadette winters bell

My intention in this sacred work is to promote emotional healing, psychological growth and spiritual exploration while helping my clients learn new coping mechanisms. The work is centered on supporting adults who are confronted with a life situation, often a significant loss, one that has occurred or is anticipated, that has undermined their feelings of confidence and clarity. I welcome clients who are open to growth, with the end goal  being the ability to look at themselves and their lives with a new lens. My style as a therapist (and human) is interactive, engaged and supportive.

I assist clients to evolve into empowered stewards of their own well-being. My integrated practice is based in a holistic setting.

Many people experience and/or recognize current or future losses in their lifetime. Grief is our reaction to loss based on what we have learned from childhood, what we have experienced as adults, and how we have chosen to respond. We then struggle to determine how to evolve and change. The grieving process does not follow a prescribed path. There are many commonalities to the grieving process, yet the journey is unique to the individual. Loss is typically defined as a death, but may take many forms: a relationship, a job, a pet.

My interactive practice, for nearly 30 years, focuses on working with individuals and families, in person or by phone, facilitating support groups, and speaking on all aspects of life, loss, death, dying and bereavement. I guide clients coping with these transitions, strengthening their relationships with others, and better understanding interpersonal dynamics. I believe that there is an underserved community of people who need pre-bereavement services, as they grapple with anticipating and facing their own death or that of a loved one.

Grieving is a process of learning how to live in your changed world and integrating the loss into this confusing and sometimes scary new life. I will hold the hope as you find your place of healing, and I will accompany and guide you on that journey.

In addition to individual, couples and family therapy sessions, I also offer and facilitate corporate and community bereavement groups and workshops as well as other events. My experience in making presentations to many local and national organizations on topics ranging from grief, loss, and pre-bereavement may be helpful to your organization. Please use my contact form to get in touch about presentation possibilities.
